Overview:
Canada’s methane reduction targets for the oil and natural gas industry are amongst the most ambitious of any country in the world. As well, Canada has continuously improved its emissions’ profiles through the replacement of the high-emitting equipment with new innovative technologies. Since 2020, we estimate that Canada has invested well over CAD 1 billion in methane reduction technology innovation and deployment for the oil and natural gas industry, eclipsing even much larger producers like Russian and the United States. The Canadian gaseous energy has a significant environmental and resource advantage. However, no effort has been made to showcase the reasons underlying our advantages. During this session, you will hear experts from the upstream, midstream and downstream provide their perspective on methane reduction technology innovation their company has developed or invested in to control and lower emissions. This discussion should be a big reminder for the natural gas importers and end users, like Europe who’s the world’s largest importer of natural gas, to carefully consider the origins of their energy. In the case of Europe, by choosing Canada’s gas, they will respect their strict emissions targets while stopping their reliance on Russia for natural gas imports.
