Overview:
Businesses in the Canadian natural gas value chain industry have had a long history of engagement with Indigenous peoples with an increasing focus on strong relationships and shared benefits. Indigenous participation in the industry has expanded to include a range of partnerships between proponents and communities ranging from benefit agreements, to training and procurement, environmental monitoring and increasingly, equity ownership. This truly represents social innovation in the way industry and communities work together and has the potential to uniquely position Canadian natural gas in the world. During this session, you will hear from Indigenous leaders at the leading edge of involvement in natural gas development. They will highlight their groundbreaking work and how it is transforming projects and the role that Canada as an energy exporter can play to enable global energy security, global emissions reduction, while advancing reconciliation and the prosperity of Indigenous communities.
